This day in hockey history

On Nov. 12, 1931 the Toronto Maple Leafs opened up their season for the first time at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario Canada. In the years following the rink's opening the Leafs went on to host the NHL's first All Star game in 1947. The leafs also won 11 Stanley Cups while playing in the Gardens. On February 13, 1999 the Leafs played their final game at the facility before moving to the Air Canada Centre.
