Generally, just using common sense, I don't think taking a country song and changing the lyrics to include "hockey" content would ever be a good idea. This only helps to solidify that opinion.
Does ANYBODY think this was a good idea? Please let me know if you do, I'd love to figure out how this got past a group of at least six semi-sane people around a table when brainstorming ideas of "how can we bring in new fans?"
Just wow. I'm praying they get rid of this in record time or half the crowd is going to be asleep/gone within the first five minutes of entering the arena.
What kind of music would you have gone with?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely something upbeat to pump up the crowd. That video is slow, and replacing the words with hockey lingo that doesn't quite fit into the beat just makes it sound cheesy. They played it at the preseason "Battle of Iowa" and the arena was completely silent. Then they tried to play the intro and everyone still just sat there.
ReplyDeleteI AGREE completely. You want to PUMP up the crowd, not make them want to drawn their sorrows in a bottle of whiskey! Country and hockey do NOT mix! I really hope CR RR get a clue!
